Our Founder
In 2012, Godfrey, the Founder of Twogere, started the organization after personally witnessing the harm caused by silence and stigma around mental health. He believed that people should be able to talk about mental health as openly and normally as they talk about physical health.
With this conviction, he brought together others with lived experience to start Twogere—meaning “Let’s Talk” in Luganda. Their goal was simple but powerful: to create safe spaces for open conversations, raise awareness, fight stigma, and support young people in Uganda to speak up and seek help without fear or shame.
Today, Twogere has reached and supported thousands of young people in schools and communities through its programs—sparking conversation, shifting attitudes, and promoting a culture of empathy and support.
