Twogere Joins CLI Cohort 2025: A Bold Step Toward Transforming Mental Health Advocacy

Writer's picture: TwogereTwogere

It is with immense gratitude and excitement that we share this milestone: Twogere has been selected to join the 2025 Collaborative Learning Initiative (CLI), a one-year, intensive leadership and capacity-strengthening program for founders or leaders of early-stage community-based organizations working through education to improve outcomes for children and youth in East and Southern Africa. This opportunity is not just a recognition of the work we’ve done—it’s a call to deepen our impact, grow our capacity, and amplify our voice in the mental health movement.

For years, Twogere has been at the forefront of mental health advocacy, creating spaces for open dialogue in schools and communities through our Social Contact Education sessions. By centering lived experiences, we have empowered young people and educators to address stigma, embrace empathy, and advocate for better mental health outcomes. Our inclusion in the CLI Cohort 2025 signals the growing importance of these efforts and the collective urgency to bring mental health into focus as a critical component of well-being and development.

Reflecting on this partnership, Kagaayi Godfrey, Twogere’s founder, shared a vision for what lies ahead:"

Twogere’s selection into the CLI Cohort 2025 is a validation of years of dedication to breaking the silence around mental health. Partnering with the ISSROFF Family Foundation means more than just joining a program; it’s an opportunity to dream bigger and act bolder. Together, we are not just shaping the future of mental health advocacy in Uganda—we are creating a movement that will inspire generations. This collaboration is proof that when we invest in young people, their voices and stories can transform entire communities. The journey ahead is one of hope, resilience, and impact.”

Over the next ten months, Twogere will engage in a journey of shared learning alongside some of the region’s most inspiring organizations. Together, we will explore strategies to build more resilient institutions, enhance our leadership capacity, and deepen the reach of our programs. Through this collaboration, we aim to scale our work and strengthen our ability to address the pressing mental health challenges faced by young people across Uganda.

At the heart of this partnership is a shared belief in the power of community. We are humbled to stand among organizations that are transforming lives in their respective fields. The CLI platform represents an ecosystem of changemakers—leaders who are ready to challenge norms, create innovative solutions, and inspire real change. For Twogere, this is more than a professional development opportunity; it’s a chance to expand our vision of what’s possible for mental health advocacy.

This collaboration with the foundation also allows us to take our Social Contact Education sessions to new heights. These interventions have already sparked life-changing conversations in schools, helping students and educators alike to understand mental health with compassion and clarity. By leveraging the resources and expertise of the CLI network, we will expand the reach of these sessions, transforming not just schools but entire communities into hubs of awareness, acceptance, and support.

As we embark on this exciting chapter, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the ISSROFF Family Foundation for believing in our vision and for recognizing the value of mental health as a cornerstone for community development. To the incredible organizations in the CLI Cohort 2025, we are ready to learn, grow, and collaborate with you. And to our supporters, partners, and advocates: thank you for standing with us every step of the way. This milestone is a reflection of your unwavering belief in what we do.

The journey ahead is filled with possibilities. Over the coming months, we’ll share our progress, insights, and stories from this transformative experience. As already mentioned, this is more than an opportunity for us—it’s an opportunity to reimagine what mental health advocacy can achieve. Together, we are not just joining a program; we are shaping a future where mental health is seen, heard, and prioritized. Here’s to collaboration, innovation, and the undeniable strength of working as one community to create a world where every young person has the chance to thrive.

Welcome to the CLI Cohort 2025. Twogere is ready to make an impact.
